Project Place

Project Place is a non-profit organization that provides housing, support, and job training to homeless and jobless individuals. The organization operates several enterprises that employ people in specialized programs.

We were asked to create a new logo for a new enterprise that Project Place had developed. After reviewing their materials, we noticed that each of their enterprise businesses had very diverse logos. It created confusion for us, and we imagined we weren’t the only ones who felt that way. Believing it would benefit them to have a consistency within their branding, we created a new logo system that encompassed and connected the main organization and its four enterprises with one unifying element—a hexagon. When the hexagon is joined together with other hexagons, it forms a honeycomb. And that pattern is a structure that we thought symbolized a community. We discovered during the design process that a hexagon is one of the strongest shapes and patterns found in nature; —it was a strong and unifying element for the 50-year old non-profit.
